Sette

Design - UX/UI

Sette is a music player that focuses on attention as much as it focuses on music. As a “mild” audiophile, I have always cared about my music, but not just about sound quality. I wanted to create a product that helped people listen to their music with more intention, locking themselves into an album using both UX/UI design, but also physical objects.

This project is envisioned as an extension of Apple Music, plugging into their API to access the users library, recommendations, and Apple’s higher quality streams and catalog. Because of this, I wanted the interface to feel familiar, yet unique to Sette. This meant using shared assets like SF Pro for the main typeface, and pulling design queues such as the color gradient on the “now playing” screens. The library also reimagines the albums covers, placing them in frames that match the aspect ratio of a cassette box and the inclusion of iOS 26’s Liquid Glass.

For my final project in ATLS 5660 - Creative Code during my master's program at the University of Colorado Boulder, I wanted to make a functioning prototype of the Sette UI as a player that operates in the browser.
